Girl's Night

We had a girl's night last week. It was supposed to involve all the Reilly girls, but as you can see, it didn't. Finals were coming up, projects were due, people had to work... so Izzy, Missy and I were the only ones who made it out. Incidentally, it was Missy's 20th birthday, so we celebrated.

We had a high-class dinner at Wendy's. We brought a table cloth and flowers. People stared.

We then trekked down to the Davenport Hotel, where we enjoyed the swanky bathrooms, staircases with no end and the Christmas tree display.

We ended there with desserts... yum. It was a lovely night. Perhaps next time the rest of the ladies will join us!

life in grainy pictures...

I know that I did a post of cell phone pictures awhile back, but I can't recall the last time... since I hadn't uploaded pictures from my phone since July, I'm going to assume that it's been longer than that. So I thought it was about time.

First up, I texted this to Carson one night just before bed (sorry about no makeup) this summer... he hates the nightguard I have to wear because it's big and gross so I sent a picture because I'm mean.

Here's a picture from our girl's night back in July: Izzy, me, Rach, Steph

A painting I did as a gift for Carson's mom's birthday

On the way to the airport after Carson broke his foot

Picture Carson texted from work when he was crippled and just sat in an office

The mail waiting for me after I returned from three weeks away (Naches, Olympia, Pennsylvania)
We NEVER get that much mail in a normal three weeks.

Turquoise nails

Teaching Rach how to sew buttons. A proud moment.

Ah, summer school!

...what we do during movies. I WOULD say that I took a picture of the board because I won, but that's so unlikely.

We got a dog! Okay, no. But she was super sweet and I would have kept her.

First day of Theology

We wore jackets on a cold and rainy day in AUGUST.

Looks like a lonely party, but the rest of the people were just out of the picture

Fishtail braid first attempt... can't figure out how to keep my thick hair in it!

Winking owl

It was a sewing weekend...

So I organized our cupboards and discovered that we overbuy salt. We might still have these in 25 years...

Rach and I in class (on break)

The day I got my nose pierced

This was at 8:30 on a Thursday. Yep, he's really asleep... looks like he's trying that planking trend though.

Three days after I got my nose pierced, we were on retreat and I forgot about it and pulled it out with a towel and couldn't figure out how to screw it back in... so I used a regular stud. I was nicknamed "Diva" because of this stud.

Cleaning the church... I guess I just document everything

This was NOT our favorite Writing Class book so we're not sure why there's a movie, but we texted it to Emily anyway.

Joey the goat

Happy Reformation Day (Oct 31)

It's an owl... (I know... it doesn't look like an owl...)

Our wedding video came in the mail! (and I look five years old)

Molly's German Chocolate Cake that I was so worried about and turned out fine!

Texted to me from Carson's phone. What a stud.

My second Halloween costume. 1/3 Three Blind Mice

I won a giveaway from here and LOVE the cards!

Carson loves the perks of working at a supplement store...free or super cheap stuff!

I just love him.

Trying to get a decent picture of my nose ring.

What I was doing when I should have been taking notes in Sys Theo...

My first cold of the season

reilly retreat

The Reilly Building went on retreat the first weekend of October.
We had a marvelous time in Idaho, relaxing, watching movies, reading scripture together, swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding and enjoying the fellowship.
Though we were enjoying ourselves, we failed to take a group picture.
Unfortunate, because now that there are 12 of us, times where we're all around are few and far between.

meanwhile, here are pictures of our retreat:

Around the House

I don't have much to say (a lie. I always have a lot to say) other than to show you what we've been up to lately.
A few weeks ago, I made peanut butter cookies. I enjoy most cookies before they're cooked (dough) but peanut butter cookies and the oatmeal cookies my mom makes are the two exceptions. I had all the ingredients for peanut butter cookies, so I set to work filling up the cookie jar.
Unfortunately, since I like them, the cookie jar is once again empty. Oh well.

Carson returned to work at Super Supplements. His boss called and offered him a full-time position. Yes, please! I made a sign for his first day.

I also thought I should make a note of how we watch movies around here. On the macbook, propped up by other dvds, with computer speakers. This movie, by the way, was the updated version of "Charade" (with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn). This one was called "The Truth about Charlie" and it just wasn't that great. We have Charade and I think it's much better!

With ice cream, of course. Carson keeps getting my favorite (mint chocolate chip) so we keep eating ice cream... it's a problem I don't mind all that much :)

Here's another something I made: an owl pincushion. The drawback is that it sort of looks like an owl voodoo doll. I don't know that they have those but I feel bad stabbing this poor creature in the back. He has been rather handy though. I don't miss having to stick pins in the couch when I'm trying to sew.

I just love squash and zucchini cooked together. Something about it just seems so summery. I think it's the colors and the fact that growing up we had a million squash from Granddaddy's garden each summer.

Since I'm showing you "life", here's some Reilly Building pictures and updates.
This is our list of rules for the apartment building. Some people took the liberty of calling others out on certain misdemeanors. I, for instance, have a drug and alcohol issue... clearly. Some of the names are personal jokes (Rachel has a fish and was called out on the "pets" rule and Keith may or may not be loud late at night).

That rule list is posted on the whiteboard that's in the foyer of the building. I think it's supposed to be for helpful notes. There are a few, but there are mostly pictures and funny notes. Stephanie recently made this one of the Reilly women (yes, we have new people)... and Izzy made an addition.

The biggest Reilly family news has been that two of our members, John and Rachel, got engaged last week! We're all THRILLED for this event, to take place this winter over break. They will continue to be our neighbors - she'll move down the hall to his apartment, which happens to be right next to ours!
