Girl's Night

So Lana was having a birthday... a SECOND 21st birthday. Which might mean that she is now 22, or it might not :)
Anyway, for this special occasion, we gathered on an atypically rainy evening in Ohio City for dinner. The original plan was to wear our old prom dresses, but we realized soon that very few of us would have held on to things like that, so Lana requested that we wear sequins. Apparently we don't have those either, because most people borrowed sequiny things.

We met at 8, with plans for dinner. Only the restaurant we chose doesn't take reservations on Saturday night so for a group of 9, it was an hour wait. So we went across the street to another place where the wait was 30 minutes. It was a very busy Saturday and we didn't eat until 10:30pm, but all that waiting gave us time to talk. All of these girls are part of our church; most are in our community group, so we know each other, but we don't hang out all the time (but we're working on that). Anyway, the time to talk was great.

And then we finally sat and we waited some more. Which of course meant that we should take pictures on our phones (and with my camera)

Polly, Danielle, Lana, Deanna

Jen, Danielle, Claire, Malea, me. I missed the lipstick memo.

Cheers to Lana! (and to finally eating)

And a group picture to remember the evening.

  Happy 21st birthday, Lana!

Tea and Crumpets

Catherine and I hosted a tea party on Mother's Day afternoon. Her mother attended, but everyone else's mothers live out of state and far away so it was the perfect afternoon.
We made fun tea party food: fruit salad, cupcakes, cookies, cucumber sandwiches and crackers and cheese. It was a simple party and very warm outside so we didn't do anything fussy.

In addition to hot tea, there was iced tea and lemonade. I had lemonade... in a teacup.

We sat around and chatted about the weather and other polite things.

We ate tea party food

And we took a picture with our teacups. Two people are missing, but it was still a small group. We enjoyed ourselves and had an excellent time making conversation over cups of tea and finger sandwiches.

Thankful

Things that I am thankful for this week:

Spring Break. No school till next Wednesday! (I only have class Wednesday-Friday anyway)

A sunshine-y Sunday. We spent the afternoon on the lawn wearing shorts and short sleeved shirts. All of Spokane was dressed for summer. The funny thing? It was 59 degrees. Ah, Washington!

Cups of tea on rainy days. With the exception of Sunday, the weather has been copying Seattle's. So I'm thankful for cozy mornings and afternoons.

Long drives. Carson and I drove to Couer d'Alene for dinner one night last week just because. We had yummy pizza and found a tiny mall that we walked around, laughing and talking. And you probably already knew that I like to talk on long drives....

Great friends. On Saturday evening I joined several friends for a girly movie night and chocolate pie. On Monday, the same lovely ladies and I braved the rain to search for formal dresses. We didn't have much luck with that but the company was great (and I found a dress for graduation).

Impending Graduation. School only has eight weeks left. I graduate in 58 days! And then five days after that, I go on my internship! I'm looking forward to the summer.

Girl's Night

We had a girl's night last week. It was supposed to involve all the Reilly girls, but as you can see, it didn't. Finals were coming up, projects were due, people had to work... so Izzy, Missy and I were the only ones who made it out. Incidentally, it was Missy's 20th birthday, so we celebrated.

We had a high-class dinner at Wendy's. We brought a table cloth and flowers. People stared.

We then trekked down to the Davenport Hotel, where we enjoyed the swanky bathrooms, staircases with no end and the Christmas tree display.

We ended there with desserts... yum. It was a lovely night. Perhaps next time the rest of the ladies will join us!
