Rome IV: Vatican City

After a morning of exploring, we headed toward Vatican City. 

We did a tour with the tour company Enjoy Rome. Our guide, Ian, was really interesting and helpful. I can't imagine talking non-stop for three hours and it being interesting, but he succeeded in that task!
I'm not usually a huge fan of tours, but it was a good one. I will say if you're thinking of booking, a tour, look to see if you'll still have to pay admission to the museum before choosing a tour company. We did have to pay a (marked up) admission fee to the museums and I'd guess that information would have been online if we were looking for it!

The Vatican Museums are huge. The guide told us that if you were to line up all the things inside the museum, it would take you a week just to walk past everything. So needless to say, even though we were inside for a couple of hours, we saw just a tiny part. It was still overwhelming though. All that history and art, and crowds and crowds of people.

St. Peter's Basilica is the largest church in the world. They have markers inside that show you how large other churches in the world are, like St. Paul's in London. 

This is the place where the popes stand when they are elected.

We watched the changing of the guards. Those are some colorful outfits!

Carson and I walked around for several hours after seeing the Vatican.
